Art has been a lifelong creative space for me. At school I obtained an Art O level as I was insistent to not give it up completely. Being creative was an outlet for me over the years, as I qualified as a nurse in 1991 and have worked hard focusing on my nursing career over the past 30+ years.

I have explored art in differing mediums over the years and I have enjoyed each one in its own right. I was proud to receive a Visitors Choice Award for an art quilt at the NEC Birmingham Festival Of Quilts in 2017 and this spurred me on to take my artwork more seriously. The prize money from this Award allowed me to undertake the Creative Stitch 2 year course in Ipswich. This course opened my eyes to design work, use of sketchbooks and costings for a successful art practice.

Although my love was previously in textiles I have since developed further with mixed media paintings. I have exhibited at various events over the years and sold my work in all its guises.

Printmaking was introduced to me more recently by friends who work in this medium. I completed a couple of workshops at Curwen Print Centre and was hooked. I was encouraged to undertake the Curwen Certificate Course in Fine Art Printmaking and completed this in July 2025.

Printmaking has opened up a new world for me. Whether it’s using traditional techniques or breaking the rules slightly and exploring printing as contemporary art, I am excited by its possibilities. Coming from a textile background I love textures and layering. My paintings are expressive, full of mark making and energy. Having studied at Curwen there are techniques I can utilise to harness all of this into a print.

Inspiration from nature and the love of the land around me enables me to be creative. To find beauty in the mundane, the textures and marks of a landscape and its fragility in an unsettled world.

My work is created mostly at home in a tiny spare bedroom (now my studio). I have limited space so I utilise this as best as I can in order to print my art on a small relief press and my trusty Sizzix Bigshot press.
