About
I live outside of Cambridge in a beautiful rural setting. My inspiration comes from the world around me, whether its nature or man-made. I continually take photographs, sketch and paint ideas. The colours, textures and emotions I sense from my surroundings enable me to be inspired and to create my artwork.
I learnt stitch and textile-based crafts from my mother, aunt and grandmother and have developed an art practice borne from the love of stitch and textiles by them. Sewing has always given me the time to slow down, to reflect and to have time to myself. In 2017 I had the great pleasure of winning the Festival of Quilts Visitor’s Choice Award for my quilt ‘Free to Roam’.
My explorations have allowed me to experiment with concepts of translating 2D work into 3D and to further deconstruct and reconstruct the landscapes I see around me. Using mark making, shape and forms and enhancing this with stitch, I'm pushing the boundaries of my abstracted work. My practice now incorporates paint, stitch, photography and mixed media.
I occasionally run one day workshops and half day beginner art classes in East Anglia. If you are interested in finding out more, please email me here.
